A Wonderful Trip to Halstead, Essex

Have just returned from a fantastic couple of days working for a client on the Suffolk/Essex border, where the weather was stunning; sunny, clear autumnal days.

First stop was Halstead in Essex, where I happened to park opposite this beautiful 1920s terrace:

St Andrew’s Church was next for some graveyard research, unfortunately no joy with finding any of my clients ancestors, but the Church looked great in the autumn sunshine:

Then followed a short walk down the hill towards Holy Trinity Church and on the way I came across this authoritative sign in an old gateway:

The spire of Holy Trinity is visible from most of Halstead and is magnificent closer up. Unfortunately, no luck with the grave stones here either.

My next destination was a few miles up the road to Glemsford, which meant crossing the border from Essex to Suffolk. More about this visit in my next post.
